Women who rock the world




This, dear friends, for our traditio this week, we return to Green Day, who will then be on a long hiatus.

When listening to this song I think of our Blessed Mother, of St. Mary Magdalene, of St. Jean d' Arc, of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, the Little Flower, of St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (a.k.a. Edith Stein), of St. Gianna Molla, and Bl. Teresa of Calcutta. All of my thoughts about the song are just that, my thoughts, these particular thoughts are very subjective.

    I always thought it was a song about the USA, ala the tradition of American Woman. :)

    That is what the song is about, which is what prompted my caveat:

    "All of my thoughts about the song are just that, my thoughts, these particular thoughts are very subjective."

    The women I mention are the ones I think of when I listen to this song.

    I totally get it, Scott! To me, all sorts of songs are really about Christ, going home, etc. (They're certainly not, but they are for me).

    A good "for instance" is 'Fix You' by Coldplay.

    I should be able to list at least a dozen more but I'm having a brain lock at the moment. Gotta love it.
