Liturgically it is now Friday. How are you observing this day of penance? Are you fasting, either from food or from something else (i.e., TV, computer, etc.)? Are you abstaining from the meat of warm-blooded flesh animals, which is the traditional practice for Fridays? In lieu of or in addition abstaining from meat, are you abstaining from sweets, alcohol, caffeine, or something else? As you observe Friday, are you making an effort to pray more. For instance, the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary, or the Chaplet of Divine Mercy? Are you asking Christ, in the light of his crucifixion to shed His light on the dark areas of your life?
Just a few thoughts.
Blogito ergo sum! Actually, as N.T. Wright averred, "'Amor, ergo sum:' I am loved, therefore I am." Among other things, I am a Roman Catholic deacon. This is a public cyberspace in which I seek to foster Christian discipleship in the late modern milieu in the diakonia of koinonia and in the recognition that "the Eucharist is the only place of resistance to annihilation of the human subject."
