Is that the Holy Father offering an internationally recognizable Sign of Peace?
ReplyDeleteYou mean his hands on his sleeve? It appears to me that, as a man used to praying either while walking with a rosary or kneeling, that he is trying to find a posture that is not too uncomfortable. He does and then, it is noticable, he enters into true prayer. It appears his fingers are configured in a Trinitarian manner, but that is just speculation on my part.
ReplyDeleteI have no doubt that at this moment he is in deep prayer about the many concerns this trip had for him, not the least of which is the realtionship between Christianity and Islam, as well as the status of Christians in Turkey and the very real dangers they face.
If I had to venture a guess, his prayer began by asking the Blessed Virgin for her intercession in this land where she ended her earthly existence. It is a beautiful moment.
I did not realize they were in prayer. I don't understand any of the languages being spoken. It seemed to me Holy Father was listening intently to someone.
